Why does my indoor cat need to be vaccinated?
ALL CATS, even indoor only ones,
need to be vaccinated!
First,
some cats may get outside and come into contact with wild animals
or diseased cats.
Second, some viruses spread through
the air or may be brought into your home on peoples clothing
or shoes. Thus, indoor cats should be vaccinated for feline
rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia. The schedule
to be determined by your veterinarian.
Third, wild animals will sometimes enter
the home. We had several instances in the past year of bats
entering homes, lofts and apartments; putting owners and animals
at risk. Several of the owners needed Rabies vaccinations,
and their cats needed to be quarantined; because their rabies
vaccinations had been allowed to lapse.
Therefore, for your safety, indoor cats should be kept current
on their Rabies vaccination.

 Our Staff
Scott Nieberg, D.V.M.
Dr. Nieberg graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine
at the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1981. This is where
he also was an undergraduate student and did his research work. Scott
has spent all but two years of his professional career in small animal
care. He worked in a mixed-animal practice in the St. Louis area
for many years, and, because he preferred treating cats, Scott structured
his schedule to concentrate on cats while looking for the right opportunity
to open his own feline-only practice. That opportunity became reality
when he purchased the City Cat Clinic in 2008. Scott is dedicated
to providing thoughtful medical care for his feline patients, and
clear, caring communications with his human clients. Scott is a member
of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
 Chris
Nieberg
Chris started her career in veterinary medicine as a bookkeeper,
but soon decided her true love was working with the animals. She
graduated from Hickey College and is City Cat Clinic’s office
manager and receptionist. Her most valuable asset to our clients
and patients is her many years of experience as a veterinary technician.
Chris makes sure you and your cat receive all the care and attention
you need during regular check-ups, sick visits, hospitalization
or boarding stays.
General Sherman has lived at City Cat Clinic
for the last 10 years. He came to the clinic as a kitten. He loves
to sit on the counter in his favorite cat bed and patrol the activity
through the day. The General will occasionally wake up from his all
day naps to visit with clients as they come in, and to play with
the newest clinic addition, Lynyrd.

Lynyrd came
to live with us in the summer of 2008. He was supposed to be feral,
but we soon found out he was extremely sweet and loved everyone.
To date, he has never met a stranger. Lynyrd is now our official “meeter
and greeter.”
 > Maddie is a black female who came
to live with us in October of 2011. She was living in a graveyard
around Halloween. She had a severely damaged foot. She was rescued
along with her 3 babies, and brought to live with us. She is very
shy, and prefers to spend her days in her bed under the cages.
She made
quick friends with Lynyrd, but continues to be people shy. If you
are lucky, you might catch her hanging out with Lynryd close to closing
time; or if you come by the clinic on the weekend; she is usually
snuggling with Lynryd on the the cat tree watching all of the weekend
activity.
